Marriott is opening its 3 000th hotel, the JW Marriott Hotel Beijing, on November 22.
The 23-storey hotel comprises 588 rooms. All rooms have large flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations and wireless internet access.
Marriott plans to operate 11 hotels in Beijing by the opening of the 2008 Olympics. Furthermore it will be opening 20 Marriott-branded hotels in China in 2010.
Nelson Mandela announced plans to host this year's 46664 concert in Johannesburg. The international event, which is held in honour of World Aids Day, will take place at Ellis Park Stadium on December 1. The show promises to have a strong international and local line-up of artists. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased through Computicket for between R120 and R450.
